My nephew Taylor Hogan’s Rochester (NY) Monarchs made it to the USA Hockey Tier1 12-and-under semi-finals of the national organization’s annual hockey tournament. We had flown into Rochester for the Passover holiday, and were able to make the drive over to Buffalo where the championships were being held to see the semi-final game. The Rochester Monarchs unfortunately lost to the Colorado Thunderbirds team 6-4. But check out the ‘do on the Rochester team members! The whole gallery can be found here.

Rico Suave
The blog has been unusually quiet of late, owing mostly to the fact that we’ve been extremely busy on all fronts. 2007 is shaping up to be a very busy year, and the first few months have been spent on the professional side planning and preparing for many many projects. That made last week’s getaway to San Juan, Puerto Rico all the more wonderful. The photo gallery is here.
Amy, Sam and I took advantage of a slew of frequent flier miles and jetted off last weekend for a week in the sun. Sam got sick, as did his proud papa, and the long time out of his own element seemed to be too much for Sam, as he demonstrated some of the very first full-blown tantrums we’ve ever seen. The cure was just getting him home – as we pulled up to the house in our taxi, he said ‘Home!’ and was just super happy to be back with his toys, crib and kitty cats. The people in Puerto Rico were super friendly, the food and drink was great (although they didn’t seem to offer many veggies), and the beach was just gorgeous.
Speaking of which on the cats front, we had a little scare with the elder statesman of the house, Chaos. He got a case of mild pneumonia while we were away, and ended up at the vet on IVs and what not, but is now home and doing much better.
Full Frame, Florida and Family
As a quick getaway before I had to turn my attention back to work for the final week of the year and our launch of PGATour.com, Amy, Sam and I packed up and headed to Sarasota with my new Canon 5D camera, their latest model which features full-frame imaging. More on why that’s important (to a photo geek like me anyway) after the jump. Sadly, soon after our arrival on Thursday last week we learned that Sherrie’s mom had passed away overnight, just a day after she and Marty had visited her in Tamarac on the East Coast. I think it helped everyone to be together when the news came, and most of the family will be traveling to Long Island for the funeral this Friday. Despite that bad news, the Handelmans, Sagans and Trotz families (Sam pictured above with Mason (left) and Austin) had a great time in the pool, on the green and in & around Sarasota. Sam Enjoys Thanksgiving…
…But his dad didn’t so much. I was down with a nasty sinus infection and managed to lose my voice, but did enjoy disconnecting from the grid for a few days as we hung out in Savannah with my mom (who was recovering from a knee replacement, but is doing just fine now), Jerry, a friend of his visiting from out-of-town, as well as the lovable mascot of the clan, the ever-friendly Scarlett. Sam was initially a bit unsure of her, but warmed up to her obvious charms quickly. Click here for the full gallery of pictures from the trip.
