CNNd – it’s where all the cool kids hang out. And today, that included Sam and Amy. As you can see above, Sam helps out Lauren Golus in ad operations. I tell ya, that kid is a natural. More pics here in the photo gallery.

NYC
I’m here for meetings this week, training Cartoon Network staff for a project launching later this summer. It is summer as of today (hoo-ah for the solstice), and the weather is lovely. Supposed to become rainy into the weekend, but I’m sure Sam and Amy (who are joining me tomorrow) will have a great time anwyway. Took advantage of the nice evening to walk off dinner (from China Grill) and visit the brand-spanking new Apple store near Central Park. That cube is darn impressive. Coolest thing – 30″ Cinema Display. Lamest thing – no machines running Boot Camp. ‘Still beta” said the hipster store attendant. Come on guys!
Father’s Day
We had a quiet get together on Sunday with some dear friends – and let Sam, Heather and Simon get to know one another better. Everyone had a great time, as the burgers were yummy (more on that), the beer was cold, and the cake was chocolate. As a special Father’s Day treat, I’d bought some nice juicy ground chuck for the burgers. By the second batch, enough fat had apparently accumulated in the lower grill pan to create something of a bonfire I had to put out with the handy extinguisher we keep in the kitchen. But the burgers were saved! More photos (none of the fire, though) are here.
Sam’s First Sox Game
As an early Father’s Day present, Jonathan hooked me up with BoSox tickets for their interleague series against our hometown Atlanta Braves at nearby Turner Field. Yes, I’m a Braves fan, but I’m a bigger Red Sox fan, and jumped at the chance to let Sam see them play. This was Sam’s third MLB game, the first at six weeks, and then again last Fall. As in the past, he was a bit overwhelmed by the crowd noise and the sheer number of people, but soon began to enjoy himself. The BoSox won, of course, pushing Atlanta further into a downward spin they have been in lately, this being their 16th loss in 19 games, and their worst record since 1990. In better news, this win – along with the Yankees loss today – put the Red Sox into a tie for first in the AL-East. Woohoo. Photo gallery is here.
