To add further fuel to the fire of M&A around the online marketing business, Microsoft announced today that they were acquiring aQuantive, a wide ranging company whose divisions include ad networks (Drive PM), agency-focused adserving (Atlas) publisher focused adserving (Accipiter) and one of the largest ad agency/design practices around, AvenueA/Razorfish. Price Tag? DOUBLE what Google paid for DoubleClick, at a premium of $0.85 per share on Thursday’s closing price. Woah Nelly!
