This version of the drink comes from San Francisco’s Smuggler’s Cove menu, updating a traditional recipe with bourbon that the 1873 Brooklyn Daily Eagle called it “the surest thing in the world to get drunk on” They weren’t wrong.

Jamaican Milk Punch

Spirit Rum

Flavors Creamy · Rich
  • 1 oz Smith & Cross Overproof Rum
  • 1 oz Whole Milk
  • 1 oz Heavy Cream
  • 1/2 oz 2:1 Demerara Syrup
  • 6 drops Vanilla Extract
  • 1 dash Angostura Bitters
  • Grated nutmeg for garnish Combine all ingredients and shake for 30 seconds.
  • Strain into a double old-fashioned glass over fresh cracked ice.
  • Grate a touch of fresh nutmeg over top.
  • Shaker

Humuhumunukunukuapua’a is a modern tropical cocktail created around 2014 by bartender Marcovaldo Dionysos at Smuggler’s Cove in San Francisco. Named after Hawaii’s state fish—the reef triggerfish, The name roughly translates from Hawaiian to “triggerfish with a snout like a pig”—the drink stands out as a rare, gin-based addition to the modern Tiki revival canon.

  • 1 oz Plantation 3 Stars White Rum
  • 1 oz Rhum Jm Vo Rum Agricole
  • 3/4 oz Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice
  • 3/4 oz Unsweetened Pineapple Juice
  • 1/2 oz Orgeat
  • 2 dashes Peychaud’s Bitters
  • Add all ingredients to shaker with 8 oz.. crushed ice.
  • Shake briefly and open pour into a double rocks glass.
  • Garnish with a cherry.
