Heading to lunch at my favorite Asian fast food joint at work on Thursday, I noticed an awful lot of disembodied Elmo heads floating around the CNN Center atrium. Ah, I thought – Sesame Street Live is in town. And, since Sam seems to be infatuated with Grover, Elmo, Cookie Monster and the rest of the clan, I thought he’d just love to head out on Saturday morning – plus that should work as a good way to tire him out since I had baby-duty the rest of the day while Amy played two performances of Beauty and the Beast at the Fox. The storyline featured Grover SuperGrover getting the help of all his buddies in trying to find his lost “superness.” Despite the audio being way too loud, especially for a bunch of kids’ ears, the show was a lot of fun. Sam had a grand old time, could barely stop talking to and pointing at his favorite characters and we (of course) came home with one of those giant-headed Elmo balloons. Forgive the photo quality above – it’s with my VX6700 camera phone, and not all that wonderful. But the subject was too cute to pass up.
Sammy had his first day of pre-school this week and he loved it. It’s a small class of 10-12 kids, 2 teachers and a parent-helper. To make for a smooth transition this week, parents have been invited to participate for the first hour or so. It didn’t take long for Sam to get in the swing of things. It was so cute to watch these toddlers sit at their little table and eat a snack. Sam didn’t understand that you take more from the big tray and not your neighbor’s plate, but we’ll work on that. Overall, I know he’ll love it and so does Mom!
Not too much to say here, other than Sam being his usual cute self. Mom has a gig tonight, so we went nuts with spaghetti and sauce, so a bath was in order. I just love his expression.
Looking for something to do this Sunday, I discovered there were open slots at the Georgia Aquarium. Wanting to take advantage of our annual membership, we gathered the troops and headed over. We missed Gasper the Beluga, but Sammy had a great time. Being able to stand on his own (unlike our last visit in February), I think he enjoyed some parts a great deal more, especially the big tank window above. I still have to rant about some aspects of the facility, though. First, I booked online, and was supposed to get an email with my tickets. Well, they finally arrived, at 1:30pm for our 11am visit. Second, it’s just far too crowded. The flow of people through a facility like this one is a classic challenge, and I don’t think they’ve done a very good job. Although tickets are for one hour slots, in reality people come and stay most of the day. So the later you come, prepare to feel like a spawning fish yourself! Anyway, it’s all worth it to see Sam enjoying himself. The amazement in his eyes is clear above. Full gallery is here.
