Messy Kids

Our friends held a joint party for their 2-year-old daughters, Shoshanah and Amelia, who welcomed all their friends for a messy party involving bubbles, fingerpaint, potting soil and play-dough. Thank goodness it was indoors – the weather turned cold and windy Sunday. As you can see, Sam threw himself into the event with gusto, turning a cupcake into a vehicle for frosting. He was a big fan of the ‘decorate your own cupcake’ table and spent much of his time there. More photos are here.

no. 2 for no. 1

Yes, time does fly. Today we celebrated Sam’s second birthday with a brunch meeting of our monthly ????? (chavurah) group. Since it’s still Passover, we enjoyed a yummy ice cream cake with a Pesadich brownie crust – but Sam certainly didn’t mind. The joy on his face as everyone gathered around and sang Happy Birthday was just contagious – you can see him basking in the joy of the moment in the photo with Amy above. Dad created two yummy fritatas (salmon and leek with chevre, wild mushroom and asparagus) – and they were gone in minutes! And Sam is already enjoying his djembe drum we picked up for him to fulfill his never-ending quest for just the right thing to bang on. Click here for the full gallery.

Passover in Rochester

The family headed North to Amy’s hometown for Pesach. Sam had a fabulous time with his cousins and grandparents, and dad enjoyed some relief from Atlanta’s insane pollen count. Read on for some of my favorite photos from the visit, or head straight to the full photo gallery on Flickr.

At the second Seder, we also celebrated Taylor’s birthday. Unlike that cold April day 13 years ago, it did not snow. That happened two days later, after we returned to Atlanta.

And to entertain the little ones, we headed off to the newly renovated Strong Museum (of Play). They now have a wonderful butterfly (and moth) habitat, as well as much-improved interactive displays that Sam and Jaimey just loved.
