I’m here for meetings this week, training Cartoon Network staff for a project launching later this summer. It is summer as of today (hoo-ah for the solstice), and the weather is lovely. Supposed to become rainy into the weekend, but I’m sure Sam and Amy (who are joining me tomorrow) will have a great time anwyway. Took advantage of the nice evening to walk off dinner (from China Grill) and visit the brand-spanking new Apple store near Central Park. That cube is darn impressive. Coolest thing – 30″ Cinema Display. Lamest thing – no machines running Boot Camp. ‘Still beta” said the hipster store attendant. Come on guys!

Sam meets Phyllis!
We had an unexpected visitor in town last night – Amy’s aunt Phyllis was in town for a CDC meeting and got to meet Sam for the first time. He was on his best behavior. Could it be related to us having dinner outside? Lately, Sam insists on being out on the porch as much as possible. Not so bad yesterday in the mid-70s at dinner time. Not so great last week when we were hovering in the mid-90s. Anyway, Sam had a grand old time, playing peekaboo through the back door with Phyllis. More photos are here.

Raindrops
After a line of afternoon thunderstorms rolled through town, I was home grilling a nice halibut steak and picked up the macro to shoot this image above of the rainwater on a hydrangea on our porch. Amazing that just yesterday that plant looked like it was going to croak from the 90+ degree weather we’ve been having. That rainstorm was just the ticket! I also like the colors and raindrops in this other image of the plant’s blooms.
