See ya later, scoot

Just had to blog this now, video to follow shortly. After Amy’s relatives reminded me that I really need to make sure to capture Sam’s unique scoot (one leg up, one leg down, rather like he’s proposing to someone) on video, I tried to do so this afternoon. Well, as I was rolling, Sam decides to stand up (which he’d done a few times in the last few weeks), but rather than take a single step or two, he takes off on a tear, first walking six steps, then eight, then ten, then twenty. All in all, he walked back and forth in our back room for about ten minutes, taking over 150 steps – and best of all, the moment was captured on video. Yes, dad is heard on camera uttering the words ‘Holy Crap,’, but come on – our lives have now changed forever. Look for the video soon.

Meet the Twins!

After visiting Miriam in the hospital when she was on bed rest a few weeks back, I was thrilled to get a chance to see her, Steven and the newest additions to the extended family – Chella and Grey. They are awfully cute, if still awfully tiny. Sam seemed to enjoy seeing them – but may have bonded more with the dog, Freddie. More photos here.

Helping out at CNN Digital

CNNd – it’s where all the cool kids hang out. And today, that included Sam and Amy. As you can see above, Sam helps out Lauren Golus in ad operations. I tell ya, that kid is a natural. More pics here in the photo gallery.

Father’s Day

CRW_0044

We had a quiet get together on Sunday with some dear friends – and let Sam, Heather and Simon get to know one another better. Everyone had a great time, as the burgers were yummy (more on that), the beer was cold, and the cake was chocolate. As a special Father’s Day treat, I’d bought some nice juicy ground chuck for the burgers. By the second batch, enough fat had apparently accumulated in the lower grill pan to create something of a bonfire I had to put out with the handy extinguisher we keep in the kitchen. But the burgers were saved! More photos (none of the fire, though) are here.
