Sam Enjoys Thanksgiving…

…But his dad didn’t so much. I was down with a nasty sinus infection and managed to lose my voice, but did enjoy disconnecting from the grid for a few days as we hung out in Savannah with my mom (who was recovering from a knee replacement, but is doing just fine now), Jerry, a friend of his visiting from out-of-town, as well as the lovable mascot of the clan, the ever-friendly Scarlett. Sam was initially a bit unsure of her, but warmed up to her obvious charms quickly. Click here for the full gallery of pictures from the trip.

Dada Nene

Sam has been calling Joey “Da da” for quite some time now, but would just smile when asked my name. He is quite capable of saying ma ma ma, but has never put two and two together. But why follow the crowd when you can create your own language. As of this past week, I am officially “Ne Ne” (pronounced nay nay). Perhaps a derivation of Amy? We all had a big smile when he saw us hugging, pointed and said Da da Ne ne. Precious.

Cousins from Carolina

The last time we saw cousin Sharon and her husband Shalom we were already pregnant with Sam, but didn’t even know it yet. So while visiting Atlanta this weekend for a clothing show, they had to swing by and meet Sammy. Sharon was a big hit with the little guy, as you can see by the photo above and in this photo gallery (all the photos are here). We miss these guys a lot and the visit was far too short. We’ll have to make sure the next visit comes much more quickly than the last!

Shofar Sam

Amy brought out her shofar this afternoon to remember to bring it to tonight’s services closing out this year’s Yom Kippur. Sam won’t make it through the service and the subsequent break-fast party, so he’ll be home with a sitter tonight when the horn is blown in synagogue. Next year, perhaps! Amy demoed the ram’s horn, and Sam had to give it a try as well. Results pictured above!
