Halloween 2007
In keeping with the tradition established in 2005 and again in 2006, I had to capture a photo of Sam, Amy and our yearly pumpkin creation in 2007. We thought Baby #2 might get in the way of providing a sugar high to all the neighborhood kiddies, but alas, there has been limited activity with regard to Trotz 2.0’s arrival over the last 24 hours. Our candy gave out before 8pm, thanks at least in part to Congress’ decision to extend DST until next weekend, making both the candy lobby and the kiddies quite happy to have an extra hour of daylight for candy collection. Next year, this photo will be more crowded, that much we do know!

So tomorrow is the forecast ‘big day’, after 40 weeks, Amy is at full term on 10/31. Her doctor’s appointment today indicated that things are progressing, with the baby’s head dropping down a few stations, and some dilation happening too. My cameras are charged, our bags are packed, and of course, both Sam and I are coming down with a head cold just in time for our big event. Amy is fine, however, and more ready than ever. Stay tuned - I don’t think a Halloween baby is out of the question now…

sammyOne of the best-loved perks for the children of Turner Broadcasting employees has to be the annual Trick or Treat on Turner Street when the Techwood campus is transformed into a Halloween festival for all the kiddies. There were hundreds of kids and parents on hand for scary festivities created by Turner’s more creative types, as well as a marching parade around the circle in front of the old Mansion (seen in the background at left).  Sam had a grand old time last year in his Tigger costume, and had a blast again yesterday, this time sporting his Red Sox outfit. In this photo gallery, you can see I captured some coworkers and their kids as well. Enjoy.

flirting

The leaves are turning, the smell of fireplaces starts to waft through the ‘hood in the evenings, and the days are ending earlier. That can mean only one (well maybe a few) thing - the annual Grant Park Halloween Parade. This year’s version wound through the park rather than on the streets around it. I can see the sense in it (no roads blocked off, a shorter route) but the narrow paths of the park made it slow going for the hundreds of lions, princesses, spidermen, red sox players, red sox fans, totem poles, and countless other costumed participants. In the photo above, Sam and his buddy Sophie flirt on the hillside above the parade ending. See more photos from the event in the slideshow here.
